An exchange of brickbats between firebrand politician Miguna Miguna and controversial economist Dr David Ndii has generated a Twitter storm, as the two argued over the authenticity of Opposition. In December 2019, Miguna Miguna made public his intention to return to Kenya through his Twitter account in what would be his third attempt. Citing protection from a court order issued in December 2018 to allow his return, he stated that his flight would land in Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on the morning of 11 January 2020.

US Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter was over the weekend embroiled in a Twitter tiff with firebrand Kenyan-Canadian lawyer Miguna Miguna.

The altercation started after Amb. McCarter tweeted a short video of the world-famous wildebeest migration, urging American tourists to visit Kenya following the lifting of the ban on international flights.

“Restriction of movement over. #USAMarafiki Karibuni #magicalkenya #safekenya,” McCarter captioned the video.

But reacting to the tweet, Miguna told McCarter off, accusing him of maintaining the “primitive believe that Africa is just about wild animals.”

“Like a typical Yankee and neocolonial chief, you maintain the primitive belief that Africa is just about WILD ANIMALS that you celebrate but you don’t care about the LIVES OF AFRICAN PEOPLES,” wrote Miguna.

McCarter gave a sarcastic reply to Miguna’s tweet, reminding him that he is also “welcome” to visit his homeland.

'It is about bringing back tourists w/money to create jobs for people who desperately need them. Even you are welcome to visit #magicalkenya Oh! I forgot. Never mind,' wrote McCarter.

Kenya should guarantee American tourists. The US is now an epicenter of COVID-19. European countries are not open to Americans. We have enough problems without COVID-19. The rising numbers of infections should challenge the Kenyan government to do the right thing for its citizen. Kenya must expand its resource generating industries. Relying on one industry is not sustainable.
